Martha Stewart Has Trail Date for January 12, 2004

The date was set by U.S.District Judge Miriam Cedarbaum at a court hearing held today.

> > Lawyers for Stewart and her former stockbroker, Peter Bacanovic, and federal procecutors will update Judge Cedarbaum on where the two sides stand in the case.
Stewart pleaded not guilty to five counts of criminal fraud, conspiracy and making false statements to federal agents. In a separate civil case, the SEC sued Stewart on inside trading charges in connection with her sale of shares of the biotechnology firm ImClone.
The scandal prompted Stewart to resign as chairman and chief executive officer of her company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.
